Kidzone is our Sunday morning environment for primary aged kids, bringing the Bible to life and practically applying it. Kidzone runs during the 10am Ormeau service and is built around the Three Basic Truths:

  1. Wisdom: I need to make the wise choice.
  2. Faith: I can trust God no matter what.
  3. Friendship: I should treat others the way I want to be treated.

What happens at Kidzone?

Welcome: Each child is greeted by their life group leader.

Large group: Kids are moved to their large group environment where they hear the Bible story. We use costumes, props and characters from the story… anything that makes the Bible come to life.

Life group: After large group time, kids return to their life group where their leaders help them understand how God’s word fits into their lives – teaching kids how to talk to Him, and to build lasting friendships.

Where do I take my kids when I arrive at church?

When you first arrive, sign your kids in at the green kids’ table in the main entrance to our auditorium.

If you’re new, you’ll also be able to meet one of our leaders and receive an information pack explaining more about Kidzone and Kidlings. Your kids stay with you for the first 10 minutes of the service before they’re released to go with their leaders.

What happens at the end of the service?

Kidzone and Kidlings run for 10 minutes after the finish of the service. This allows all our parents a few minutes to have a coffee and connect with each other. The kids’ team then returns your children to the main auditorium so you can sign them out. If you need to leave straight after the service, it’s OK to collect your kids from their rooms.

Who will be looking after my kids?

Overseeing kids’ ministry in Ormeau is Donna Graham, who is employed part-time as our children’s ministry coordinator. Working with Donna is a great team of volunteers of a variety of ages. All of our adult leaders have current Blue Cards and have received training on working with and leading children.

Where are the kids’ rooms located?

The kids’ rooms are in a separate classroom building next to the main auditorium. At times, the kids’ team will also use some of the green space, undercover areas and playgrounds on the school grounds nearby.

Kids Club

Kids Club runs on a Friday afternoon during the school term. It is a fun place for students from prep to grade 6 to come together, play some games, make new friends and have fun! The afternoon finishes with dinner and a short Bible talk.

The afternoon runs from 4:30-6pm at Livingstone Christian College, meeting in the Multi-Purpose Centre. Children need to be signed in and out.

  • Cost is just $3 every week (includes afternoon tea).

For any other questions or enquiries please call our Gateway Ormeau Children’s Co-Ordinator, Donna Graham on 3291 5924.

Caring for our littlest kids

Kidlings runs during the Sunday morning service at Ormeau.

Kids aged 0 to 2 years old

At Ormeau, we only offer Kidlings for children aged 2 and over.

For those with younger children, a playpen is located at the back of our auditorium where your kids can play under your supervision during the service. There’s also a baby change facility provided in the disabled toilets.

We know people often worry about the noise their kids might make, but don’t worry – at Ormeau, kid noise is good noise!

Kidlings aged 2 to 5 years old

Our older kidlings are taught three basic truths: God loves me, God made me, and Jesus wants to be my friend forever.

Starting each week with a fun activity to grab their attention, kids then hear a creative presentation of a Bible story and participate in worship, where they’re encouraged to sing and dance.

Finally, the kids take part in a creative, hands-on activity designed to help them better understand the key truth of the day.

Parents, no-one influences your child’s faith more than you!

The average child spends over 1000 hours a year at school, and less than 50 hours in church. Most parents have more opportunities to discuss spiritual issues with their kids, so what happens at home can be more important than what happens at church. We need you to help us help your kids, by talking to them at home.

Weekly connection

The life groups, friendships and mentoring that we offer at Kidzone rely on regular connection – so we need you to help your kids connect with the same friends and the same leader at the same time every Sunday. The more your kids are here, the deeper their relationships will grow.

Parent cue card

Pick up a parent card from your child’s life group leader each month. The front of the card has everything you need to know about what your child is learning in Kidzone, including the Big Idea, monthly memory verse, Bible stories and bottom lines. The back has information about having a family night at home to reinforce what your kids are learning at church.
