Kids Take Over is the most fun a kid can have on their school holidays. This year our Mackenzie and Redlands campuses are combining at our Mackenzie Location for KTO 2019. The event is for any child in Prep to Year 6. As part of this event, we spend the morning session all together and then split off for the remainder of the day into our two different programs (Take One and Take That) that cater for your kid’s interest. Have a read about the two programs below.

Registrations open Monday 20th May at 10am

Take That – Sport and Games Based Program

Take That is an action packed program where kids participate in team challenges. This high energy program will be jam packed with games, challenges, activities and contests. Kids will be in ‘house teams’ and will spend the week creating war cries, cheering and working hard to earn points for their team. At the end of the week, the Take That champions will be announced.

Take One – Creative Based Program

Take One is a creative based program where kids choose an elective and spend the week preparing for our Friday Afternoon Showcase. When registering, kids can choose between art (prep to year 3), costumes (year 4 to 6), dance (all grades), drama (all grades), Stage Design & Production (year 4 to 6) Media (year 4 to 6) and vocal (all grades). Throughout the week, they will work with experienced leaders to learn new skills and practice for the showcase.

Frequently Asked Questions

For the week of KTO your child will need to bring a labelled small bag or backpack, morning tea and lunch (both nut and whole egg free) and a clearly labelled hat and water bottle.

Please make sure that your child wears enclosed shoes and is dressed in sun safe and activity appropriate clothes each day. The kids will be doing lots of running around so comfy is best. All items need to be labeled for easy return, especially jumpers and hats.

Kids get to choose between Take That or Take One when registering for KTO. Take That is a games based program designed for kids who love a little competition, have a lot of energy and love running around. Take One is a creative based program where kids get to choose an elective and then spend time during the week working on that creative element in preparation for our Friday afternoon showcase.

This year’s KTO theme is around the world. Prepare to jet-set with the KTO team as we explore different countries and work to find out where in the world is Douglas Dangerfield.

No we don’t. KTO sign in opens at 9am and sign out is at 3pm. As we have leader training before and after, we do not offer any extended care options. Please make sure your child can be supervised by you until 9am/you arrive at 9am and that they can be collected at 3pm.

If for any reason you need to drop your child off late, then bring them to our reception in the main building and our lovely receptionist will get you to sign them in and join their group. If you need to collect your child early, come to reception and our lovely receptionist will help to organise this.

Kids are not able to change programs after registration. Our electives fill up fast so make sure you register early and find out from your kids which program they want to be a part of.

If your child can’t attend all five days or happens to need a day off during the week, that is totally fine. We don’t offer day rates so you will need to pay for KTO and reserve your spot as normal. If you can’t make the whole week, please let our KTO team know.

We have over 140 volunteers that help to make KTO happen and a bunch of staff that run the week too. All leaders over the age of 18 hold a current Working with Children Blue Card and all leaders take part in KTO Leader Training.

If you are interested in helping out with sign in or out or helping at our Leader Thank You Dinner, please let the KTO team know by emailing

These are two of our most popular electives and due to limited spaces, they fill up fast. In the Media Elective kids learn skills in photography and videography and work to put together some short film clips that are played out our Showcase. In the Stage Design and Production Elective kids work in groups to build and create the sets and props for our showcase.

There is no transport being offered between campuses this year.

We have leaders who oversee first aid and medications throughout the week of KTO. If your child needs to have medication administered throughout the week, please let the KTO team know so that we can provide you with the necessary paperwork to fill out for this to happen.
