Neil and Gwen serve with AusHEAL, strengthening medical training in under‑resourced nations. For many years they spent half of each year in eastern DRC, teaching surgery and partnering with HEAL Africa Hospital to provide holistic care and share the hope of Jesus. Ongoing conflict now prevents their going back, but they hope to return when access improves. Meanwhile, Neil continues mentoring staff remotely while Gwen manages AusHEAL’s project administration and finances. As AusHEAL’s model proves effective in underserved regions, training teams are now also being sent to a hospital in Northern Ghana, where medical training opportunities are limited. Neil also serves on the Board of the G4 Alliance, advocating globally for improved surgery, obstetrics, trauma and anaesthesia care for the world’s poor.
