Lead the future of Gateway Counselling

Gateway Baptist Church is seeking an experienced, Christ-centred leader to serve as our Gateway Counselling Practice Director. Based at our Mackenzie campus and working across multiple Gateway locations, this senior leadership role within Gateway Beyond is responsible for the strategic direction, governance and growth of Gateway Counselling.

Gateway Counselling exists to inspire hope and healing in individuals, couples and families through professional, affordable mental health services. In this role, you will shape the future of the ministry and strengthen its impact across our church and wider community.

About the role:

  • Provide strategic and visionary leadership for Gateway Counselling in alignment with Gateway’s mission and values
  • Lead and develop a multidisciplinary team of counsellors, psychologists, social workers and allied health professionals
  • Ensure safe, compliant, high-quality mental health service delivery
  • Strengthen pathways between professional counselling and pastoral care across campuses
  • Work closely with campus pastors and other Gateway Ministries to grow Gateway Counselling
  • Build strong partnerships with aligned faith-based, government and community organisations
  • Oversee systems, facilities, budgets and operational effectiveness
  • Lead recruitment, development and support of staff, contractors and volunteers

About you:

You are a highly capable, compassionate and strategic leader with experience in counselling, mental health or a related field. You bring strong knowledge of professional practice, governance and compliance, along with a genuine pastoral heart and ability to lead in complex environments.

You will demonstrate:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or significant leadership experience
  • Proven ability to lead and manage multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong communication, organisational and relationship-building skills
  • Integrity, discretion and emotional intelligence
  • A personal and growing relationship with Jesus
  • Involvement in (or willingness to commit to) the life of Gateway Baptist Church
